Esther Lee Leach: Tony, you have a long and extensive experience in the fashion industry starting out as a model. Tell us about what you have done and how you made your way to Denver.

Tony Jordan: After starting print and runway work while in high school, I started working at a well known men’s clothing company at 16. Although I majored in Finance in college, I still worked part time and seasonally in mostly luxury men’s clothing stores. After almost 20 years full time in banking and real estate finance, but never leaving menswear, I went back full time in 2010 and never looked back! I came to Denver to find a place to settle and build - the rest of my life and this amazing brand we have.

ELL: State & Liberty has experienced incredible growth over the last year. Tell us about the brand and how it all got started.

TJ: Thanks! It’s an incredible brand, created from the need for better fitting menswear and a lifestyle the fitness level of the athletic male desires. The founders, Lee Moffie and Steven Fisher, wanted to serve a specific niche they directly related to - the professional athlete. In doing so with our unique fit and fabric, we’re literally redefining fashion for today’s guys.

ELL: What are your three favorite trends for fall and why?

TJ: 1. Turtleneck and mock turtleneck sweaters - with blazers, overcoats, jeans, slacks…makes both looking great and dressing for cool weather easy!

2. The dark brown or cognac dress boot (with weatherproof soles) - looks great with a shine, but good ones can help keep your feet nice and dry.

3. Holiday Markets and December Christmas shopping: most people are in the holiday cheer, so it’s a great time to catch up with my favorite customers!

ELL: What are 3 must have items every guy should be adding to his wardrobe this season?

TJ: 1. A great Overcoat - having one that is great looking and comfortable is a must.

2. A Navy Blazer - it’s the easy go-to for holiday parties and gatherings!

3. An amazing winter scent - eau de Parfums require much less and last longer over eau de Toilettes.
