MUST-SEE EXHIBITION // DENVER ART MUSEUM // Paris to Hollywood: The Fashion and Influence of Véronique and Gregory Peck.

16. Véronique and Gregory Peck, 1967.jpg

Paris to Hollywood: The Fashion and Influence of Véronique and Gregory Peck is now on view at the Denver Art Museum. The exhibition presents 100 ensembles—by 17 different couturiers and designers from around the world—from the wardrobe of Parisian writer, philanthropist and fashion influencer Véronique Peck.

A selection of haute couture, fashion sketches, photographs, film clips, family snapshots and documents, such as letters and receipts, are being exhibited publicly for the first time, providing a unique look into the style of one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. The presentation covers more than four decades, from the 1950s to the 1990s, providing an overview of how fashion changed as the roles of women in society evolved in the 20th century. In conjunction with the exhibition, Véronique and Gregory’s daughter, Cecilia Peck Voll, has gifted the Denver Art Museum 20 of her mother’s iconic looks for the museum’s collection. Paris to Hollywood, organized by the Denver Art Museum and curated by Florence Müller, the DAM’s Avenir Foundation Curator of Textile Art and Fashion, and designed by architect Brian Dale and designer Meredith Dale, both co-founders of Sort Studio, will be on view from March 14, 2021, through July 18, 2021 in the Anschutz Gallery on level 2 of the Hamilton Building. www.denverartmuseum.org

ART SHOW // BALEFIRE GOODS: Balefire Goods will be kicking off a collaborative art show titled Sincerely, Earth on Friday, April 2, 2021, featuring the work of local artists Christine Ann Nicols and Caitlin Zeller. This show will be on display through April 30, 2021.

The Sincerely, Earth show is in April in honor of Earth Day (April 22, 2021) and will feature work that includes jewelry and wall hangings, all of which are representative of environmental issues. For example, the image attached is of a brooch that will be featured in the show; it was created from trash that the artist found while hiking.

"Leveraging immense creativity and impeccable craftsmanship, Nicols and Zeller are able to create pieces that balance being visually beautiful while bringing awareness to the pressing topic of environmental issues and the negative impacts we are having on our planet,” said Jamie Hollier, owner of Balefire Goods.

NEW BRAND LAUNCH // STOREY

Discover.jpg

Storey is the new, female-founded app that is digitizing our wardrobes and leading the way to sustainable fashion. Users are able to browse their entire closet, track its resale value, and list pieces they no longer wear for sale. The app, which is currently in beta on iOS, automatically uploads items you buy online, making it almost effortless to buy and sell used clothing.

In the world of sustainable fashion, reusing is just as important as minimizing consumption, but most of us don’t wear at least 50% of what we own. With Storey, you can manage your wardrobe from your devices. By closing the loop from purchase to resale, the Storey team are making fashion more circular and sustainable. Who doesn’t want to reduce their impact on the environment?

Storey was founded by Nicole Kobilansky and Tak Fung - two ex-Google colleagues with decades of combined tech experience - who are now working alongside a team of contributors with backgrounds at companies including Apple, Nokia, Spotify, and VICE Magazine. The Storey team has a passion for improving the online buying and selling experience and reducing waste in the fashion industry.

BRAND SPOTLIGHT // ZIBA KIMONOS BY KIANA KOUTURE: “Sometimes all a woman needs is a "statement piece" to pull her look together; so why not throw on a kimono? I founded Ziba Kimonos by Kiana Kouture to fulfill a long time dream to empower women, regardless of skin color or size, to feel fabulous in their clothes! My vision is to create a versatile, affordable piece that takes you from the office to happy hour, and is easy to care for (no dry cleaning required). I am always searching for interesting fabric and thinking about how each design works for the modern woman. Why the name Ziba Kimonos by Kiana Kouture? "Ziba" means beautiful in Farsi...my father's native language. It is significant to the story behind my brand because it signifies strength, confidence, and beauty; an important part of life that I began learning from my father and grandmother after my mother died at a very young age. My wish to you is that every time you wear your kimono you see your own unique beauty, and celebrate the gifts that life presents!” says brand founder Kiana Geditz. www.kianakouture.com
