Darlings, I’m absolutely positive that I am not the only one constantly daydreaming about being able to travel again. I’m also 100% certain that there are going to be many changes to make to accommodate our new circumstances and lives moving forward from these pandemic times. I’m not so sure, however, about spending time among hundreds of other tourists in crowded museums, concert theatres or at sight-seeing attractions (impossible to social distance and I don’t like crowds anyway!) but, let me assure you that there are plenty of options for traveling in a more relaxed way.
My go-to solution is a staycation at a boutique hotel. Boutique hotels are the best option for releasing some of the stress we all have accumulated over the past year and to avoid encountering hordes of other travelers. What I personally enjoy most about boutique hotels is the sheer attention to detail - my chosen staycation has the most charming and welcoming environment that also just oozes style and luxury. It’s original, unique, and stylish - which to the fashion lover makes you feel right at home. Believe me, I have found an absolute gem for you to sit back, relax in a fluffy bathrobe and enjoy a well-deserved glass of vino… or two. Let me introduce you to The Jacquard Hotel & Rooftop, located in the heart of Cherry Creek.
Pre-covid I had been lucky enough to dine at Jacquard’s signature restaurant, Narrative, multiple times (which never disappoints FYI) - however earlier this month I was able to have a much-needed staycation and enjoy all that the hotel has to offer, and I left my stay on cloud 9 and could not be any more in love. You know when somethings just so good, you can’t quite put your finger on what it is? Well, with the Jacquard you actually can, and you can do it over and over again. Allow me to divulge.
With Colorado giving us 300 days of sunshine a year, I know how and where I want to be spending my time…cocktail in hand, doing laps of the heated 75-foot swimming pool on the rooftop which, may I add, will give you the best view of the mountains that Denver has to offer. Should you want to unwind you can relax and read a book in the hotel’s library or dine in style in Narrative, which not only has some of the best meal options in Denver (the lobster corndogs are to die for not to mention award-winning) but has a buzzing, friendly atmosphere which I have missed desperately this past year.
When I arrived, the level of hospitality was unparalleled. The team had a chilled bottle of champagne on ice waiting for me alongside carefully crafted teas and chocolates with a beautiful welcome note. Little touches like that make you feel so special, I was over the moon. My suite was gorgeous, tailored to perfection - floor-to-ceiling windows capturing Denver in all of its glory. With a generous dining, living room, and the comfiest bed it was such a treat. There’s also even a Peloton in case you want to sweat it out in the comfort of your own room – heaven!
I ordered room service to totally indulge myself had a decadent feast - fried green tomatoes with feta and jalapeño jam to start and shrimp and grits for my main course which included roasted tomatoes and bacon bits… just thinking of it makes my mouth water. I washed it all down with pink bubbles whilst gazing out to the twinkling lights of Cherry Creek, pure bliss.
Safe to say post my mouth-watering dinner I sunk into bed full, happy, and cozy - ready for a wonderful night's sleep. The next morning, I awoke refreshed, ready to shop until I dropped … after all the Jacquard is situated literally in the epi-center of shopping heaven, The Cherry Creek Shopping Center was calling. Strolling over to the mall, artisan coffee in hand, through the tree-lined streets never gets old. I love browsing through all of the stores at the shopping center and found some treats in a few locations. There is always a hidden treasure to find in Cherry Creek, whether that's a world-class restaurant, fashion store, or art gallery.
After my gourmet meal, luxurious overnight stay, and shopping spree it was safe to say I had experienced the creme de la creme of Cherry Creek, all thanks to the Jacquard. Whilst we can be so keen to leave our hometowns post-pandemic to travel, we can miss the most spectacular experiences that are right on our doorstep that offer us a new perspective to our daily routines. Sometimes, all it takes is a few nights close to home to truly appreciate what we have and the beauty that is all around us. The Jacquard Hotel & Rooftop certainly does that, and I’ll be back before they even know it.
