Spring Trend Report: Carolina Hellal Jaramillo of Chic Talk
Name: Carolina Hellal Jaramillo
Occupation: Digital content creator/lifestyle blogger.
You moved here from Colombia over 10 years ago and now run your brand and website Chic Talk. Tell us more about Chic Talk and how you incorporate your Colombian heritage?: Chic Talk was born in a crucial moment in my professional life. I was working as a visual merchandiser for a juniors clothing company when I started it and at the time I was just posting fashion content I loved, writing about my fashion icons and I slowly started to share my personal style. After a few years of working as a VM, the company went out of business and I decided to find a part-time job so I could start investing more time on the blog. I was in love with the idea of being the creative director of my own blog and create digital content and I’m so glad I did because it slowly became a viable career and it’s what I do for a living today! Sharing about my Colombian heritage, my story, and where I come from has always been extremely important for me.
I’ve been living in Denver for a long time but I’m very Colombian at heart and I couldn’t be prouder of that. My Colombian roots, my main language which is Spanish are always very present in my content, in my lifestyle and that’s something I share on a daily basis on social media. Now that I’m a mom, I get to share more of that because I want Sofi to grow up loving our culture and feeling proud of being half-Colombian!
Favorite Spring Trend: Dad jeans! I don’t know what skinny jeans are anymore! I just love the idea of straight-leg jeans. They are so chic and I’m completely obsessed with them! I’ve been incorporating them in my wardrobe during the last months and the more I wear the more I like them!
How would you describe your style?: I would say my style is a mix of classic, edgy and feminine. I love the idea of giving timeless looks a modern approach with accessories, jewelry, and makeup. I’m all about details and elevating my outfits with my favorite accessories. Seasons of course play a huge role in my style and I would say spring and summer are the seasons I tend to be a little more playful with my outfits, but overall I’m not a trend follower. I love to focus on my own individualism and if I like a trend, I usually try to find a way to fit into my style and make it my own.
What item will you be wearing on heavy rotation this Spring season and why?: Simple separates, relaxed trousers, and dad jeans! I’m still very comfort-focus, and those three things give me that. They make me feel comfortable, chic, and pulled together!
What advice can you give to our readers about how to transition from wearing joggers and PJs for months to dressing up for Spring?: I’m personally so ecstatic for spring and wearing real clothes! I’ve been one of those people who’s been living in loungewear during the past months and I cannot wait to give my wardrobe that spring refresh! One thing I’ve found very helpful is creating a list of five things I would love to wear. So when I shop for them I don’t get distracted with other things. Creating that list will give you a clear idea of what you would like to see new in your closet and how you would incorporate and mix it with what you already have!
What are three must-have items that should be a part of our Spring wardrobe?: Something bubblegum pink! If you follow me on social media you’ve probably noticed how much I love neutral colors, but I’m excited to see bubblegum pink back and incorporating it in my wardrobe this spring! A good pair of chic/comfortable sneakers are a must, they look great with pretty much anything and a casual suit in a soft color, if it comes in a relaxed fit even better! The idea is to make it look effortless and easy. And don’t forget wardrobe basics! The options with them are always endless!
