TIP 1: BE TRUE TO YOURSELF
When deciding on your look for your wedding, it takes a commitment to your vision to go through with an unconventional wedding gown. Even with your closest friends and family, some may not understand your view. Be committed to your ensemble and be sure to take people shopping with you who truly support your ideas, so you don’t get pushed into wearing something more conventional.
TIP 2: START WITH YOUR GOWN
Start shopping for your wedding gown around 10 months prior to the wedding to have time to create a unique outfit. Find a few designers that you like, and start looking into where their collections are carried. Be on the lookout for designer trunk shows, where you can see the entire new collection from your favorite designer and possibly get a discount.
TIP 3: ACCESSORIES ARE KEY
With the right accessories, any wedding look can go from boring to adventurous. I always recommend going with a statement piece like a crown, hat, or cathedral length veil. Dramatic earrings- like a pair of large drops or hoops- are also a must.
TIP 4: SHOW OFF YOUR PERSONALITY
Be sure to pick colors, patterns, and shapes that excite you- this is your time to make your outfit all about YOU! Be as bold or subtle as you like, just be sure you’re doing what feels right for you. Don’t be afraid to step out of the box, because this is your time to shine!
TIP 5: HIRE A STYLIST
If you have a vision you want to bring to life and a budget you need to stick to, hire a stylist to do all the hard work for you and to help you build your look and keep you on track. You will be glad to have an expert guide you through the process so your photos turn out beautiful and not look like a costume on the big day.
